MIDLAND, VA - Easi-Set Worldwide announced record attendance for their 31st Building Producers Seminar held November 5-7 at the Airlie Conference Center near Warrenton VA. The host Easi-Set Building Producer for the event was Smith-Midland Corporation of nearby Midland, VA. In attendance at the Thursday evening Awards Banquet were 67 people representing the North American network of Licensed Building Producers and 7 major precast industry suppliers who were participating sponsors for the event.

Easi-Set Worldwide is pleased to welcome the Southeastern Region of Oldcastle Precast Inc. as its latest licensed precast product producer. This is the third Oldcastle location to join the Easi-Set network with Easton, Pa., being the second and Lexington, Ky., being the first. The Georgia and Pennsylvania plants produce Easi-Set Buildings, and the Kentucky facility manufactures J-J Hooks barriers.

MIDLAND, Va., -- Missouri American Water (MAW), a regional division of the parent American Water Works Company, serves 1.5 million people in more than 150 Missouri communities. With such an expansive reach, maintaining its equipment is essential. At its Central Water Treatment Plant in Maryland Heights, outside of St. Louis, a major replacement was needed for an existing pump station constructed in the 1930s because of hydraulic limitations to operational needs.

Leesburg Concrete Company, Incorporated (LCCI) delivered a large floorless precast concrete Easi-Set Building to be placed over the rebuilt pump station used by the upscale community, Venetian Falls, in Venice, Florida. The custom 18' x 13 ½' x 8' precast concrete building with post tensioned roof was delivered, lifted and lowered over the pump station onto an expanded concrete slab floor in less than 1 day. "The Venetian Falls community did not want to be without well water in excess of one day so our Easi-Set Building offered just the solution they needed," said Brian Stock. "In addition they did not want to disconnect the well intake pipes if it was avoidable. We manufactured the precast building with a cutaway and a custom fit precast panel to adjoin and seal the void once installed to finish the wall. All of it was done with a skip trowel finish and custom paint to match the community's colors."

HOUSTON–Hewlett-Packard (HP) continues construction on its new data complex on the outskirts of Houston in Hockley, TX. Due to the large size of the facility and resulting massive power demands, HP was required to construct its own electrical substation on site which features Lonestar Prestress Manufacturing’s (LPMI) Easi-Span™ precast concrete control building. The 20x80x12 precast building, which is engineered to withstand 140 mph winds, has an expected life span of 100+ years and houses the bulk of the weather sensitive electrical gear needed to operate the substation and provide primary power to the data center. The integrity of the Easi-Span™ building is expected to provide enhanced stability for HP’s facility helping to ensure that the lights stay on and that their equipment is protected from severe weather and the effects of time.

Leesburg Concrete Company, Inc. delivered a precast concrete Carson model flush restroom and two precast concrete dugouts to Volusia County Schools. The precast concrete restroom building as well as the 30' x 8' Dugouts have been approved by the Department of Business Professional Regulations (DBPR). This approval includes State Requirements for Education Facilities (SREF) compliance.

MIDLAND, Va., -- This month, a planned community in Bealeton, Va., can admire its new Easi-Set Building while no longer worrying about its water quality. The manufactured home community recently learned that its well water had high arsenic levels, so a water filtration system housed in an Easi-Set Building was installed. The local Easi-Set licensed producing plant Smith-Midland Virginia manufactured and installed the 20’ x 30’ Easi-Span Precast Building. General contractor Sydnor Hydro Inc., Richmond, Va., selected Smith-Midland because of a long working history.

St. Catharines, Ontario: What happens when a block-and-wood washroom in a public park looks woefully outdated next to the modern additions around it, including a new $20 million aquatic center? It’s replaced by a durable, visually-appealing custom precast concrete washroom. Situated in the heart of St. Catharines, Ontario, Lester B. Pearson Park is a community focal point. With a revitalization project breathing new life into the 27-acre park, visitor numbers spiked and the local Recreation Department wanted to continue the rehabilitation by replacing dated restroom facilities with a modern new structure. Looking to neighboring communities, city officials noticed that several municipalities had replaced old block-and-wood washrooms with precast buildings, so the city approached Hy-Grade Precast Concrete requesting a signature design.

McCann Concrete Products recently entered a new market with their Easi-Set Prefabricated Concrete Buildings. Four buildings, specifically designed to house ATM machines, have been installed at scrap metal recycling facilities in the St. Louis area. These buildings are designed with security in mind, with 6″ thick steel reinforced walls and roof sections and designed to 150 mph wind loads. Building can also be anchored to the concrete slab to offer additional security. Roof designs can be modified to provide more architectural features and signage for advertising.
